Editing creative or narrative non-fiction
If you have a piece of work that is not specifically corporate or academic but is still non-fiction, then you are in the right place!
I have copyedited creative and narrative non-fiction such as memoirs, family histories, local histories, information booklets and much more on a range of topics. I can do both copyediting and proofreading, but I do not do structural or developmental editing. If you are looking for a structural edit, then I suggest you look for an editor who specialises in that service. As well as copyediting and proofreading the text, I can also help you with formatting the document in Microsoft Word. |
I can help you refine your work ready for publishing, but I cannot help you with the publishing side of things. If you are looking for help self-publishing, then an editor who specialises in helping authors self-publish their work may be more appropriate for you.
For each piece of work I develop its own style sheet, which I use to ensure consistency in areas such as spelling, terminology, capitalisation, hyphenation and use of italics. Where alternative spelling choices etc. are available, these will be agreed with you during the editing process. At the end of the editing process, I will give you a copy of this style sheet for you to use when going through the amendments and to use in any further stages such as when proofreading the document. |
I feel fortunate in having had Josephine recommended to proofread my manuscript, which having been edited, I thought might have been relatively free of fault. Her assiduous reading and correction led me to repeatedly comment, in gratitude, 'well spotted'.

How do I get a quote?
To give you a quote for editing your manuscript, I will need some information from you, as detailed in my blog post What an editor needs to give you a quote. Please email this information to me at wordsmithwa@outlook.com and once I have reviewed it, I will send you a quote and we can go from there.
If you need any more information from me about the process or you would prefer to talk to me about your project, please email me and I will answer all your questions or arrange a time to talk to discuss your project further.

I cannot stress enough to budding authors the necessity and value in engaging an Editor.
