Editing for postgraduate students
For academic students, only copyediting and proofreading are allowed when a thesis is professionally edited. Please refer to the Guidelines for Editing Research Theses (revised 25 February 2019) developed by the Institute for Professional Editors (IPEd) for more information on what is and is not allowed during editing.
|
The main subject areas I edit include accountancy, finance, economics, business, education and law; however, I have also edited theses in a range of other areas from landscape architecture to medicine.
Please note: I only do editing for postgraduate students, not undergraduate students.
|
The style guides I commonly use when editing academic documents include:
- The Chicago Manual of Style (16th edn, 17th edn)
- Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) (6th edn, 7th edn)
- Australian Guide to Legal Citation (AGLC) (3rd edn, 4th edn)
- Modern Humanities Research Association (MHRA) (3rd edn).
How do I get a quote?
To give you a quote for editing your thesis, I will need some information from you. This information is detailed in the blog post What an editor needs to give you a quote.
Please email the relevant information to me at wordsmithwa@outlook.com or click on the button below.
Once I have received a signed copy of the quote (signed by both you and your supervisor), I will send you an invoice for a deposit and you are booked in. I will send you a final invoice once the work has been completed.
Please note, I generally need a four-week turnaround time for editing theses; however, this can be flexible depending on the length of the thesis and the amount of editing work required.
If you need any more information from me about the process or you would prefer to talk to me about your project, please email me and I will answer all your questions or arrange a time to talk.
